Calauit Island Escapade 👣💞

I used to see it in books and I never had imagined of seeing one in person - giraffes. I was with my boyf’ in Coron, Palawan for a short vacay and it came into our mind that the paradise have this so called Safari Island. Natives say its very far from the town proper, but our curiosity and excitement pushed us to take the ride to the island.

First we rented a motorbike for php 500 (good for 1 day) and the owner was just really nice because they have the same hometown with my boyf.  He told us that its going to be a long ride.

He was never wrong though, its a super sunny day and we had nothing to cover our faces  for about two hours. We reached a small port and had to pay php1000 for them to take us to the island. I was never really good in negotiations and agreed to it immediately. But, my boyf interrupted and haggle with php600 since it's only the two of us. They both agreed and took us to the Safari Island. We were welcomed by an old man and guided us to their entrance and there we needed to pay php100/head for the entrance. We had our island guide, not that old man and he was very knowledgeable. He lived there since he was a child, grew up, and eventually got married. His job was to deal with the foreigners in the island and guide them, and he was not alone, theres many of them that depends on the Safari island for their living. He said the island had changed a lot, there were many animals before but now theres only few of them left. Not only giraffes but we also got the chance to see the stripes, Zebras. I was really amazed when I saw them and even touched them.
